In the textile
sector, it was realised a vacuum chamber with the use of cold
plasma glow discharge for the superficial functional properties
modification of fabrics and nonwoven fabrics, in collaboration
with the University of Milan, Physics Department (Prof. Riccardi)
(see photo).
The reactor is able to produce plasmas with pressure between
10-3 and 1 millibar through radiofrequency source at 13.6 Mz.
The vacuum system is composed of a primary rotative pump and
a turbomolecular pump with achievable residual vacuum of 10-6
mbar.
The chamber is used to improve water repellency of TET and
cotton and for the degumming of raw silk.
The gases that are used in the treatment are air and noble
gases.
